The exquisite seven acre Longstock Water Gardens, with its small islands linked by bridges, are considered to be one of the finest in Europe. They are part of the Leckford Estate which has an arboretum, nursery, farm shop and café and is perhaps better known as The Waitrose Farm. The nursery is a must for any garden lover and is home to National Collections of Buddleja and Clematis Viticella and the café uses all locally sourced produce – a real treat.

Built by the grandson of the diarist Samuel Pepys this Mogul style House and Orangery complete with minarets, peacock tail windows, jali-work railings and pavilions has dazzled all that came to visit. So impressed was the Prince Regent, he changed his plans for the Royal Pavilion. The romantic landscape of temples, grottoes and waterfalls feature in gardens which were designed with the help of Humphrey Repton. A guided tour of the House makes this a most memorable day out. Tissington Hall is the 17th century home of the FitzHerbert family and the focal point of Tissington Village. We have included a guided tour of the Hall which has wonderful furniture and a fine collection of paintings. The folklore surrounding the annual custom of Well Dressing came into being after the local villagers believed they escaped the Black Death due to the purity of the water. Since then, the villagers give thanks by dressing the wells using natural materials including clay, petals and coffee beans. There will be plenty of time for you to stroll around the village to see the six lovely Well Dressings.

We will be returning via Buxton (which includes a 90 mins stop) and travelling through the Peak District National Park.
